South West : Muslims Show Appreciation For Hadj Subvention

They thanked the Head of State and offered prayers for peace to the nation.

South West Muslims have expressed gratitude to the Head of State, President Paul Biya, for the subvention given to them during this 2024 Hadj. They said it will permit them travel with ease to the holy land, Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. They also said during Ramadan, some Imams benefited financial resources from the Head of State which assisted them in receiving guests. The message of appreciation was made during a courtesy visit the South West Muslim community paid to South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, on Friday, April 19, 2024 after their Friday prayers. 
The delegation was led by His Eminence, Alhadji Mohammed Aboubakar, Chief Imam of the Buea Islamic Central Mosque Complex. He said the Head of State has for the past five years been assisting Muslim pilgrims by subsidizing the cost of the journey. In the previous years, the subvention was FCFA one billion yearly and was increased to over FCFA 1.5 billion this year. “This is something we thought it important to appreciate. Allah says in the Noble Koran that if you are grateful to me I will increase you in favour. So to show gratitude we have to tell the Head of State who assisted us that we are indeed grateful,” he told the press.
