Investing In Petroleum Sector: Dangote Group Expresses Interest

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday received a delegation from the Group led by the Vice President for Oil and Gas, Devacumar Edwin.

T he Dangote Group, the lar­ gest industrial conglome­ rate in West Africa, founded by Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, has officially made known its interest to invest in the petroleum sector in Cameroon. This was during a working session at the Star Buil­ ding yesterday July 21, 2026 bet­ ween the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and a delegation from the Group led by its Vice President for Oil &Gas and Fertiliser, Devakumar Ed­ win. Highlighting on the purpose of their visit, the delegation leader said they came to exploit ways of part­ nering with Cameroon in the in­ vestment of energy security. “As you know, we have the world's lar­ gest single-train petroleum refinery. Our objective is to see how we can develop a storage facility in Came­ roon to ensure that there is national reserve of petroleum products so that the country cannot easily run short of the products. And also to distribute the products through a pipeline so that the cost of trans­ portation is reduced and the impact on the environment minimised,” he stated. The Vice President for Oil &Gas and Fertiliser of the Dangote Group ad­ ded that the second reason for their visit is to announce their decision to double investment in the cement business. “So we are also visiting Douala to go and see locations and how to start building the plant.
