The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon have increased their chances of qualifying for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco 2022. The Lionesses thrashed the Queen Scorpions of Gambia 8-0 in the first leg third round qualifier on Friday February 18, 2022 at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium. It was a thrilling encounter that kept fans on their feet cheering the players throughout the match.
The Lionesses began the game well with a good play style that paid off as Flora Kameni opened scores just two minutes after kick off. That did not end there as Nchout Njoya Ajara scored the second goal at the 16th minute through a beautiful free kick. The first part of the game was dominated by the Lionesses who had before them a rather inexperienced side. Rose Bella and Flora Kameni scored two goals scored and Kameni Flora scored the fourth in the 31st minute. That was her second goal. Gambian goalkeeper Mariama Ceesay was replaced by Matty Manga after she got an injury. But that did not help things for the team. At half time the score line was 4-0 in favour of Cameroon.
