Cameroon Town Planners : Pondi Batoum Paul Is New President

He was elected during an extra-ordinary general assembly of the association over the weekend in Yaounde.

Members of the National Order of Cameroon Town Planners have unanimously elected Pondi Batoum Paul as the new president to lead the association for the next three years. This was during an extra ordinary General Assembly of the National Order of Cameroon Town Planners on Saturday March 26, 2022 in Yaounde. The election came after the end of the current mandate of leaders in the Order and the unexpected death of the outgoing President, Yimgain Moyo Theophile. Before his election as president, Pondi Batoum Paul was the Vice President of the Order and also acting as the interim president. 
The election was chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Professor Nna Mathurin. While witnessing the birth of a new bureau at the National Order of Cameroon Town Planners, the Secretary General reiterated the importance of town planners in the development of the country, especially in the era of decentralisation.   
After his election, Pondi Batoum Paul said he has an uphill task of revamping the institution which seems to dwindle into oblivion as people do not even know their duty, hence the disorder in the construction of houses in various towns in the country. President Pondi Batoum Paul and his team will be focusing on the training of new town planners, especially given that there are few town planners in Cameroon.
