Daunting, But Surmountable Task For Lions

The Indomitable Lions have a daunting task ahead of them as the play the return leg qualifier for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Today’s match is a must win one for the Lions who are seeking for the eighth participation at the World Cup. The Desert Foxes of Algeria will be in quest of their first World Cup appearance and will be leaving nothing to chance. After failing to win the away leg in Yaounde on March 25, 2022 the Indomitable Lions are going into the game with their backs on the wall. They lost 0-1 in Douala and they must win today’s match to secure a spot at the World Cup. What has raised eyebrows is whether the Indomitable Lions will be able to go above the challenge given the strength of their adversary. Cameroon beat Algeria 2-1 during the 2000 AFCON in Ghana-Nigeria and drew 1-1 in 2004 in the final in 2004 in Tunisia. All is still not lost for the Lions given their experience in major international competitions. The Indomitable Lions have five AFCON trophies to their credit and have participated in the World Cup seven times. Today, they must win with at least a two-goal margin in order to qualify for the World Cup.
