Academic Excellence: Over 160 Children Rewarded

The third edition of the Yaounde Academic Excellence took place in Yaounde on Wednesday September 14, 2016.

The premises of the Yaounde V Sub divisional Council were exceptionally busy on Wednesday September 14, 2016. The event was the third edition of the excellence award ceremony to reward the best headmasters, teachers and school children who have worked hard during the last academic year. Organised by the Yaounde V Sub divisional Council, the event entailed distributing stationery to needy children in the municipality. 

Speaking at the occasion, the Mayor of the Yaounde V Council, Yvette Claudine Ngono epse Etoundi Ayissi said the donation is proof of the determination of the Yaounde V Council to ensure the well being of the children and their efficient participation in nation building. She called on the beneficiaries to work hard this new school year and be good examples for others to follow.

A total of 165 beneficiaries from 33 primary schools, 66 teachers and 12 headmasters were awarded prizes. In a bid to contribute to the promotion of academic excellence, 200 benches were donated to schools in the municipality in order to facilitate learning and improve working conditions.
