North West: Polytechnic Opens New Chapter
The creation of an Anglophone oriented Polytechnic featured prominently amongst requests by protesting Anglophone Teacher trade Unions.
Students thirsty for higher technical education in the English Sub system jumped for joy on Friday, November 24, 2017 when a Presidential Decree created a Polytechnic, attached to the Bamenda University of the future. The creation, seen to enhance teaching and learning in the sub system is a plus, following recent protest actions by Anglophone Teacher Trade Unions against the marginalization of the English Sub system of education.
Away from the protests that started in 2016, the issue was topical during the 2017 World Teachers Day in Bamenda when teacher trade union leaders once more, re-echoed the need for the enhancement of Anglophone technical education with the creation of a Polytechnic, tailored to suit the English Sub system, affiliated to the University of Bamenda.
While waiting, they saluted the creation of the Department of Engineering Sciences in HTTTC Bambili. Their requests also featured the creation of an HTTTC in Ebolowa to reduce pressure from Francophone student aspirants to HTTTC Kumba and Bambili. They have been...
