Recruitment of 2,000 University Lecturers : Procedure For 1,000 Positions Available

President Paul Biya’s instructions for the recruitment of one thousand (1,000) lecturers in State Universities in the country for the 2019 fiscal year has reached a decisive stage with the publication of a calendar of activities by the chairman of the Central Supervisory Commission, Séraphin Magloire Fouda. The calendar consists amongst other things of the available positions in each State University as well as when and how the recruitment procedure will be carried out.

While reiterating that the recruitment concerns Cameroonians aged at most 45 years on October 1, 2019, and holders of a Doctorate or a PhD, Séraphin Magloire Fouda in a document revealed that the approval of terms of reference, documents defining the recruitment quota per university, selection criteria of candidates and the activity of calendar by the Central Supervisory Commission has already taken place. Teaching positions in the different State Universities have been distributed with the University of Bamenda obtaining the highest available space which stands at 132. Buea, Ngaoundere and Yaounde I universities have 130 available positions each. 127 positions are available at the University of Douala, while the Universities of Dschang and Maroua have 109 and 102 positions respectively. 100 positions are also available at the University of Yaounde II and 40 positions are reserved for academic regulation.

The recruitment process is coordinated by the Minister in charge of Higher Education according to the regulatory provisions in force. Each interested candidate can submit to only one of the eight (8) State Universities of his/her choice.
