Douala : Emergency Projects on Right Footing

Despite Difficulties, contractors are determined to complete works.

Curtains drop on Friday 15 March 2019 on the three days working visit of the Delegation from the Ministry of Public Contracts (MINMAP) to the economic Capital Douala. The visit, that took the minister and his delegation to some projects sites in Douala, was aimed at evaluated the level of works so far. Day three and last day of the visit saw the Inspector General of the Ministry of Public contracts  Felix Ngounou visiting some projects in the three year Emergency plan  package that was launched some years back.

The inspector general visited development works of rainwater drainage channels in Tongo’a Bassa, Mbanya, Kondi, Bonassama and Bonne Courses in the Douala municipality. The project is owned by the Douala City Council, and authorities revealed that works on all the different rainwater drainage channels were at 87.09%. While at the construction site of the 50km road from Bonepoupa-Yabassi work was on course. The CFA 1, 709 165 560 which is expected to last  for about four years  has been ongoing for the past two years and so far the execution  rate is at 20.01%.  Authorities here complain of 11 months of non payment while the contractor regretted that they were yet to receive payment amongst others.
