Chantal Biya Foundation : Japan Offers FCFA 50 Million

An agreement was signed between the Embassy of Japan and the Foundation on September 19, 2019 to improve healthcare of newborn babies.
Within the framework of assistance for grassroots human security project of the Embassy of Japan in Cameroon, a grant agreement of about FCFA 50 million between the Embassy of Japan and the Mother and Child Centre of the Chantal Biya Foundation (MCC-CBF) was signed yesterday, September 19, 2019 at the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaounde. The Ambassador of Japan to Cameroon, Tsutomu Osawa signed on behalf of the government of Japan and the Director of the Mother and Child Centre of the Foundation, Professor Paul Koki Ndombo, signed for CBF, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Chantal Biya Foundation, Habissou Bidoung Mkpatt, and Cameroon’s Ambassador to the Republic of Japan, Pierre Ndzengue.
Ambassador Tsutomu Osawa said the non-fundable grant shall enable the Mother and Child Centre of the CBF to acquire efficient equipment to strengthen its technical capacities which will improve the care to newborn as part of its “Newborns Survival Project” in Yaounde. In line with the TICAD7 2019 Yokohama Declaration with top priorities on improving primary health care and controlling infectious diseases, the Ambassador of Japan to Cameroon said through the Newborns Survival Project, Japan will continue to support Cameroon in improving the medical care of newborn and in fighting infectious diseases. Impressed with the activities at the CBF, Ambassador Pierre Ndzengue said saving life is something very vital in any community.
