Return of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons : Confident Building Measures Proposed

Coordinated by Christian Cardinal Tumi, deliberations will be harmonized and handed to the technical secretariat.


As concerns facilitating the return of refugees and internally displaced persons unfortunately forced out of their homes by the socio-political situation in the North West and South West Regions, committee members charged to that effect at the national dialogue have brainstormed on possible measures to be implemented. Going by official documents, the committee members focused their deliberations on three cardinal points; the conditions to be created for the return of refugees and displaced persons to their homes, the number and location of the persons concerned and the foundations of a policy for the reconstruction of destroyed homes. 
Chaired by Christian Cardinal Tumi, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Douala Dioceses, the committee members after deliberations noted they talked about security and confident building measures. Talking to the press on the first day of brainstorming, the Chair said everything went on well and we are allowed every member to express his or herself and after which the positions will be put together and sent to general secretariat. The prelate said their committee proposed psychological assistance and other measures that will facilitate the return of these displaced persons back to their committees. “Arms should be dropped and the military can go back to the barracks and the boys lay down their arms. With peace, everything will come to order,” he said.
