Reconstruction of Affected Areas : Commissioners Propose Soothing Measures

The recommendations were presented yesterday in a plenary session at the close of work in committees.

Delegates to the Major National Dialogue holding at the Yaounde Conference Center have completed their work in commissions. The rapporteurs of the different commissions presented their discussions and recommendations during a plenary session yesterday.
As concerns the reconstruction and development of conflict-affected areas, notably the North West, South West and Far North Regions, it was proposed that a special fund for reconstruction and employment of ex-fighters be put in place. Another recommendation is the resumption and completion of public investment projects started before the crisis in the restive regions, the development of the agro-pastoral sector as a priority and the creation of a commission to assess the properties destroyed in each division in the troubled regions.
In addition, the commissioners proposed the creation a specific readjustment plan for the North West and South West Regions, as well as the Far North Region, which will be like a Marshall Plan, and different from the national development plan.
