FIFA U17 World Cup : Timid Start For Cameroon

The Cadet Lions failed to impress as they were beaten by Tajikistan 1-0 in their first outing in Victoria on Monday October 28, 2019.

The national men’s U17 team of Cameroon began the 18th edition of the U17 World Cup competition in Brazil on a rather timid note. The Cadet Lions failed to impress as they were beaten by Tajikistan 1-0 in their first outing at the Cariacica Stadium in Victoria on Monday October 28, 2019.
It was a thrilling encounter with the Cadet Lions putting up a good mastery of the game in the first half. Top strikers like Steve Mvoue, Wamba Leonel and Saidou Ismaili all had good scoring chances but wasted the opportunities. Despite their good play style they wasted several scoring chances as compared to the Tajikistan side that proved to be more technical and tactful. Tajikistan had just one chance and were able to grab the three points in group E. 
The defeat came as a major hold up for the Cadet Lions who have a difficult task ahead with Argentina and Spain as their next group opponents. They will have to go the extra mile to secure a ticket for the second round of the competition. In the other group E game, Argentina played a 0-0 tie with Spain.
