U23 AFCON : Egypt Crowned Champions

Egypt are the winners of the third edition of the Total U23 Africa Cup of Nations that ended in Egypt on November 22, 2019. They beat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in the final at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, November 22, 2019. 
In the final, Egypt took a first-half lead over Côte d’Ivoire after defender Karim El Eraky scored in the 37th minute. However, substitute player, Aboubacar Doumbia, equalised for Cote d’Ivoire at the 89th minute limiting the chances for the Pharaohs of Egypt. During extra-time Ramadan Sobhy scored are winning goal at the 116th minute to enable Egypt lift the trophy. Egypt won the Total Africa Cup of Nations title for the first time. The Pharaohs finished the competition on an excellent note recording five victories. Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games by winning the semi-finals.
