MINDEF : Defence Forces More Determined To Ensure Security

The Defence Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General René Claude Meka made the promise during New Year wishes to the Defence boss and the two Secretaries of State on January 17, 2020.

Cameroon’s defence and security forces have reaffirmed their loyalty and allegiance to their Commander-in-Chief, President Paul Biya. Defence Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General, René Claude Meka stated that as has been the case in previous years, the instructions, orders and guidance of President Paul Biya will in 2020 be carefully executed without hesitation. 
He spoke at the courtyard of the Ministry of Defence on January 17, 2020 as on behalf of the entire defence and security personnel, he presented 2020 New Year wishes to the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, Galax Etoga and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of Ex-servicemen and War Victims, Koumpa Issa.
Defence Minister, Beti  Assomo in response, said the ceremony was in the spirit of communion, conviviality, cohesion and sharing. He used the occasion to state that the actions of the defence and security forces in 2020 will be guided by President Paul Biya’s New Year message to the nation on December 31, 2019. With specific focus on the socio-political and security crises in the North West and South West Regions, Minister Beti Assomo quoted the Head of State as saying, “For those who persist in going down the  wrong road  and continue to use violence, we will have no other choice than to combat them in order to protect all our fellow citizens.
