Legislative By-election ELECAM : Prepares For Successful Organisation

The eight session as of right of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) on March 3, 2020 was dedicated to review the different aspects related to the preparations.


Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), is preparing for the hitch-free organisation of the by-elections in 11 constituencies, 10 in the North West Region and one in the South West decided by the Constitutional Council. Indeed, the Council cancelled the February 9, 2020 legislative election in the constituencies warranting the organisation of by-election.
The eight session as of right of the Electoral Board of ELECAM held in Yaounde on March 3, 2020 focused essentially on an in-depth review of the various phases and aspects involved in the successful organisation of the by-election in the North West and South West Regions. Opening the session, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board of ELECAM, Enow Abrams Egbe said the President of the Republic will in the coming days convene electors to the polls  for the by-election. 
During the session, he said, the Director General of Elections, Erik Essoussè “would provide an update on purely technical and operational aspects, backed by a concrete action plan, which may, where necessary, be amended in order to enable a more effective synchronisation of our actions on the field.” He further disclosed that, “upon the partial cancellation of election by the Constitutional Council, a strategic coordination committee was immediately put in place to assess the situation of the existing election material and to draw up an updated planning of activities, taking into account sundry desiderata, for an effective and harmonious organisation of these by-electi...
