Commonwealth Day : Promoting Peace, Interconnectivity

A commemorative ceremony to mark the day was organised at the courtyard of the Ministry of External Relations on March 9, 2020.

The 2020 edition of the Commonwealth Day has been celebrated in Cameroon with the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu presiding at the ceremony organised on March 9, 2020 at the Ministry of External Relations. Celebrated under the them, “A Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming,” the event brought together several members of government, Members of Parliament, the Commonwealth diplomatic family and other personalities.    
While celebrating Cameroon’s membership in the Commonwealth since 1995, Minister Mbayu said the organisation commits member countries to the development of free and democratic societies, the promotion of peace, prosperity and improving the lives of people of the Commonwealth. It is within this context, the Minister said,  the President of the Republic convened the Major National Dialogue which laid the foundation for delivering a common future for Cameroonians through connection, innovation and transformation with its recommendations providing a blue-print for building the common future aspired by all.
