North West Records First Confirmed Case of Coronavirus

The present case is coming at a time when Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique's order on systematic disinfection of public transport vehicles and a ban on drinking places in the region is on-going.

The North West has lost its virgin nature in the face of COVID-19 pandemic with one positive case confirmed on Monday, April 20, 2020. 
Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrque, President of the North West Regional COVID-19 Pandemic Response Committee, traces the itinerary of the patient in a communiqué issued Monday, April 20, 2020: "The said case is a Cameroonian resident in Douala who originates from the North West Region. He arrived Bamenda on the 15th of April 2020 in his private car, after going through the Medical Screening at Matazem/Santa, where he voluntarily expressed the wish to have a confirmatory test of COVID-19 conducted on him. He was immediately referred to the Bamenda Regional Hospital where he presented himself on the 16th of April 2020 for sample collection... The sample was sent to Centre Pasteur de Yaounde for analysis...He opted for self a confinement at home."
The patient is currently being receiving medical care from health authorities while all his possible contacts are being investigated on the infection.
