Presidential Pardon of 15 April 2020 : 176 Quit Buea Central, Upper Farm Prisons

Beneficiaries left yesterday midday in smiles and praises for President Paul Biya.

A total of 176 beneficiaries of the 15 April, 2020, Presidential pardon, have been set free from the Buea central and Upper Farm Prisons in the South West capital city of Buea.
Among them were nine women. They were shown the door out of prison yesterday, 23 April, during an event coordinated by South West Attorney General, Justice Mbia Emmanuel. The first to step out at 11.20 am was Talla Ivo from the Upper Farm Prison who had served 2 years three months. He expressed his joy regaining his liberty and thanked President Paul Biya for pardoning them.
According to Justice Mbia Emmanuel who chaired the deliberative commission that examined the various prisoners’ files, all beneficiaries had been scrupulously sorted without mistake. Upon his insistence, all freed prisoners were tested of the COVID-19 disease before they left for their homes. In case of any suspects such could be taken to hospital for treatment.
