Mamfe Mayor Ashu Priestly Ojong Killed

He died from bullets buried in his head by ambushed men last Sunday in his native Eshobi.

Thirty four-year-old Mayor of Mamfe Council, headquarters of Manyu Division in the South West Region, has been killed by armed groups in the village of Eshobi near Mamfe. Ashu Priestley Ojong, elected Mayor during the last February 9, 2020 polls, was gruesomely assassinated as he travelled to his home village on Sunday May 10, 2020. Reliable sources say he died of bullets buried in his head.
It is reported that he was accompanied by some members of the Defence Forces who are now receiving treatment in a hospital in Mamfe. They were ambushed and shot at. Reacting to the news of Mayor Ojong’s death, South West Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, assured that the culprits will be tracked and punished accordingly. 
The late Mayor was holder of a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Dschang.
