Private Secondary Schools : Administrators Adjust Sitting Position

They have divided the different classrooms to suit the number of students as prescribed by the government.
Monday, May 18, 2020, three days after the Prime Minister, Head of Government, announced the resumption of schools exclusively for examination classes, various actors in the sector have mobilised their staff to ensure a smooth take-off within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The different school administrations have not only divided the classrooms, but have also established new teaching timetables to fit the situation at hand.
As early as 8:00 am, on May 18, the administration of the Mevick Bilingual Grammar School Etoug-Ebe Yaounde could be seen within the school premises working meticulously at the office of the Vice Principal, Divine Ayuk. Speaking to Cameroon Tribune (CT), Divine Ayuk said they are trying to divide the classrooms according to the required number and sitting position as required by the government. He said it was an important aspect to carryout given that the Form Five and Upper Sixth classes have more than 50 students each. According to Divine Ayuk, Form Five Arts has 77 students, Form Five Science, 85 students and Form Five Commercial less than 50 students.
The Vice Principal underscored that they do not have a problem with space because the school has more than 19 classrooms. Besides such pedagogic measures to ensure smooth functioning in different schools, Mevick authorities as well as school authorities at the Anglo-saxon General and Technical Group of Schools have also taken measures to reinforce hygienic conditions within the school premises by putting hand-washing buckets with soap and hand sanitizers not only at the entrance into the...
