Evolution of Covid-19 : No Death, 152 New Confirmed Cases

The epidemiological situation of Covid-19 pandemic in the country as of yesterday, June 7, 2020 stands at 152 new confirmed cases, with no death and 13 recoveries. This was revealed by the Director for the Promotion of Health at the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Fanne Mahamat, during the daily press briefing on the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country at Public Health Emergency Operations Centre in Yaounde. She noted that the 152 new confirmed cases were gotten after screening samples from some 767 people. Because the number of new Covid-19 cases keeps increasing over the last two weeks, Dr Fanne Mahamat said everybody is obliged to redouble vigilance against the disease.

According to Dr Mahamat, the Minister of Public Health has noted “it is important for everybody to know that the country is entering into a complicated phase of the pandemic. Hence, everybody should more than ever take measures to protect themselves, their family members and others, by observing the barrier mea- sures against Covid-19”. In this light the Director for the Promotion of Health at the Ministry of Public Health called on everybody to mobilise and ensure strict observance of the regularly stated rules of hygiene, which are structured around the washing of hands with clean running water and soap or use an alcohol-based solution; covering the nose and mouth with a disposable tissue when coughing or sneezing or using a bent elbow; wearing face mask in public, maintaining social distancing of at least 1.5 metres and above all, stay at home as much as possible.
