COVID-19 : China Offers Kits To Defence, Security Forces

The donation worth 164.5 million FCFA was handed over by Ambassador Wang Yingwu on June 12, 2020 to Joseph Beti Assomo, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence.

“True friends are like brothers” was the message pasted on some of the cartons containing the donation by the Chinese Ministry of National Defence to Cameroon’s defence and security forces to help fight the Coronavirus or CO- VID-19 pandemic. The Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wang Yingwu, on Friday, June 12, 2020 in the Ministry of Defence in Yaounde handed over the gifts to Joseph Beti Assomo, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence. The COVID-19 kits are worth 2 million Yuan (164.5 million FCFA), Wang Yingwu disclosed.

Minister Joseph Beti Assomo thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the gift, lauding ties between the two nations. He recalled that cooperation between Cameroon and China in the diplomatic, economic and social domains run deep. Reason why China is today one of Cameroon’s major partners, the Minister added. He said the gifts will boost efforts to tackle COVID-19. Joseph Beti Assomo said though China was hit hard by COVID-19, it still decided to assist other nations to combat a pandemic that has so far affected more than 10 million people all over the world.
