UEFA : Final Eight Tournament To Conclude League

The European football’s governing body officialised the organisation of the last rounds of the competition in a tight format and in a unique venue on Wednesday June 17, 2020.

The 2019/2020 edition of the European Champions League will round off with a Final Eight tournament. UEFA officialised the organisation of the last rounds of the competition in a tight format and in a unique venue on Wednesday June 17, 2020. The final eight tournament will run from August 12 to 23, 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the quarterfinalists of the competition. The ties will be single-leg fixtures. The games will be played at the Lisbon venues of Benfica’s Estadio da Luz and Sporting Lisbon’s Jose Alvalade Stadium. According to the programme the quarterfinals will take place from August 12 to 15, 2020, semi-finals (August 18 to 19) and the final on Sunday August 23, 2020. All the games will take place at 9:00 p.m. Draws for the quarterfinals and semi-finals will take place on July 10, 2020 in Nyon and the match fixtures will equally be made public. 
European football’s governing body is reported to have reached consensus with competing clubs on how to finish the tournament. The Champions League will resume with Premier League duo Man City and Chelsea FC fulfilling their respective ‘last 16’ ties against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Serie A and La Liga champions Juventus and Barcelona will be required to complete their last 16 ties against Olympique Lyonnais and SC Napoli. The final eight tournament ...
