“All The Players Are Equal”

Amazones FAP has made a name in the women’s football history in Cameroon. What is the strength of the team?

The strength of Amazones FAP FC comes from military organisation. The military structure has its own organisation and all the clubs are attached to it in the same way; that is discipline, order and respect of hierarchy. Apart for, its missions are attached to everyone. So at the beginning of every season club presidents are assigned missions concerning their clubs and they have to ensure that they achieve their missions. So that is what makes the strength of the team, discipline respect of advice etc. The particularity of Amazones FAP FC resides essentially in discipline. The success of any club depends on the manner in which the athletes are implicated. There is no particularism either we are fit to play to defend the name of the club or we are not. When the player has not been able to fulfill certain conditions for the week she will not be listed for the match. There is no star. When we are in the stadium we are there to defend the colours of the team. In addition, there is no star in Amazones FAP. All the players are equal because they have to give the results. It is after the results that we will see what each player has given for the good result.       

During this period of confinement due to the Coronavirus pandemic, how is the team?

When FECAFOOT took the decision to suspend sports activities in line the government’s decision, we equally organised a meeting in the club. The coach took measures to give individual training sessions to players. It is true that these are training sessions that we cannot really monitor given some athletes are obliged to travel to their different families. It also enabled us recover other players who were sick and we have treated six players. It was an advantage to us because at a certain moment we could not use them. These are problems linked to sports. There was a player who had a problem with the knee and it need much time for her to recover. However, we were able to treat her. There were others who had muscle sprains and other problems that we have been able to handle during this period of confinement.
