Buea Diocese : His Lordship Michael Bibi Is New Bishop

The announcement was made at 12-noon yesterday 5 January, 2021 by the Arch-Bishop of Bamenda at the Cathedral in Small Soppo, Buea.

His Lordship Michael Miabesue Bibi, 50, is new Bishop of the Diocese of Buea. He was previously and cumulatively Auxiliary Bishop of Bamenda and Apostolic Administrator of Buea Diocese. Hundreds of Christians thronged the Regina Pacis Catholic Cathedral, Small Soppo-Buea, yesterday January 5, 2021 invited by the Vicar General of Buea Diocese, Reverend Father Isaac Anuchem, for the midday announcement. 
Songs of praise were sung aplenty as joy gripped the entire community following the decree of Pope Francis read out at noon by the Arch-Bishop of Bamenda ecclesiastical province, His Grace Andrew Fuanya Nkea. The appointment comes to end a one-year wait after the previous Bishop Immanuel Bushu who retired and was succeeded only by an Administrator.
As explained to the press by Arch-Bishop Andrew Nkea, “Bishop Bibi administered Buea since December 2019 on behalf of the Holy See in Rome. With his confirmation as Ordinary now, Bishop Bibi will lead the Christian flock of Buea Diocese in his own name.” 
The man, Miabesue Bibi, who now heads the oldest Diocese of Cameroon, was born in Bamessing-Ndop, Ngoketunjia Division in the North West Region on 28 July, 1971, and ordained priest on 26 April, 2000. He was made Auxiliary Bishop of Bamenda on 24 January 2017 and consecrated Bishop on 25 March, 2017. The new Bishop of Buea was earlier appointed Apostolic ...
