CHAN 2020 : Coronavirus Pandemic Under Control

The sixth edition of the Total African Nations Championship is taking place at a time when the coronavirus pandemic is causing panic in the world. Despite the impact of the deadly virus, the Medical Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have succeeded in controlling the Coronavirus throughout the first phase of the competition. COCAN and CAF have been able to handle the coronavirus by applying several measures.
The first measure taken by the organising committee was the respect of social distancing. Throughout the competition, COCAN ensured that social distancing was respected especially on the grandstands. For instance, in every match all the different stadiums were 25 per,cent full as required by CAF. As from the quarterfinals the stadiums will be 50 per,cent full. Some of the seats were out of bounds to avoid close contacts. The wearing of masks was obligatory in all the matches. In all the entrances into the stadiums, volunteers provided the public with hand sanitizers to limit the spread of the disease. Apart from that coronavirus tests were carried out 48 hours before every match. All players and technical staff, media men and all those in contact with the players had to undergo the COVID-19 test two days before every match.
