Authenticating Diplomas : Digitalisation As Effective, Fastest Solution

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo on November 18, 2021 explained what government is doing to facilitate the process.


The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo says in order to tackle the delays in authenticating and granting of equivalence of diplomas that is one of the key requirements for recruitment in the public service and other institutions, government through the Ministry of Higher Education has opted for the digitalisation of the process. He said the Presidential Project dubbed “E-National Higher Education Network” being put in place is the solution to the slowness thus far witnessed in the process of authenticating documents.
Minister of State Fame Ndongo spoke in the National Assembly on November 18, 2021 as he answered Hon. Kum John Nji’s question concerning the delays in authenticating diplomas, citing the case of the 1,000 bilingual teachers the Head of State ordered their recruitment in 2017.  Hon. Kum said some of these teachers do not yet have service codes because their diplomas have not been authenticated.  The question time plenary sitting was presided at by the House Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.
Prof.  Fame Ndongo said that the authentication of diplomas and other verifications of candidates in the public service is a procedure that concerns the verification of the legality, conformity and veracity of information contained in the diploma presented by the candidate. The operation requires meticulousness, reliability and confidentiality. He said that with regard to recruitment in the public service, the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform usually addresses correspondences to the Ministry of Higher Education requesting the authentication of the diplomas.
