After putting up a good fight in the group phase of the ongoing AFCON, the team rested yesterday bearing in mind the tough challenges of the next round.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon became one of the first countries to pick a spot in the eighth finals of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Placed in Group A, the Lions won two of their matches and drew one, taking them to seven points and keeping their position as group leaders. After much work done in the first round, Coach Antonio Conceição and his boys thought it wise to take a short break yesterday to recover from the stress obtained from the very competitive group fixtures.
But they will definitely bear in mind that this is just the beginning of the competition and will be having tougher challenges ahead. Looking at the first three matches, the tactician is aware of the fact that there are serious loopholes in his team which need to be corrected if he hopes to take the country to victory at home. During the first group game against Burkina Faso, experts raised concerns of the midfield’s incapability to nourish the attack to get the goals counting.
