After sundy’s bashing by Tunisia, many have resolved to chart a way forward.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been booted out of the 2021 AFCON competition. After a brilliant group stage performance during which they scored a hundred percent from three victories, Tunisia’s captain Youssef Msakni shattered their dreams of going beyond the round of 16. The impact of the defeat has left many fans not only in tears, but with unanswered questions.
At the players’ hotel, the environment is calm, the usual up-and-down by officials and workers in the hotel is virtually absent. The players, we were told by a source, are still in their rooms after spending a sleepless night wondering what must have happened. The disappointment has been such that even the voices of the usual chanting birds around the La Rabidou Hotel could not be heard. While nature seemed also to be sympathizing with them, what prevented the Eagles from soaring higher than the Carthage is the main pre-occupation of the technical staff.
Same re-occupation for the highly admired members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC), that travelled from Nigeria by road to come and support the team.
