Hosting a majority of the matches, the city with two sites (Mfandena and Olembe) successfully produced a mind-blowing football fiesta despite minor hitches.

Yaounde, the political capital of Cameroon, was at the centre of all attractions during the just-ended 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations. The city with two sites; Mfandena and Olembe hosted majority of the matches as well as the opening and closing ceremonies of the competition. In all, it was a success despite minor hitches especially seen at the level of security. In terms of infrastructure, the newly-constructed jewel, the Olembe stadium and the highly refurbished Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium provided a conducive environment for the players to produce high quality football. Though a little timid at the beginning, supporters progressively thronged these stadiums in their numbers to live the ground-breaking matches which were most at times very competitive.
Another aspect which could be lauded about the organisation of this competition in Yaounde is the management of Covid-19. The virus posed no major threat to the competition due to the rule of vaccination and constant testing. Members of delegations who tested positive to the virus were properly taken care of.
