This is part of activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the hospital.
After one year of existence, the Yaounde Emergency Centre (CURY), is proud to present a positive balance sheet to the public; with over 15,800 patients received so far recording a mere mortality rate of 3. 8 per-cent. Activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the hospital were launched yesterday August 17, 2016 by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health, Professor Koulla Sinata Shiro. Top on the agenda is the free screening of HIV and Hepatitis B and C to the public within the premises of CURY. Events end tomorrow in Yaounde.
Presenting the balance sheet of the hospital, the Director, Dr Louis Joss Bitang a Mafok, said after 365 days of existence, it is like a dream come true not just for the country but particularly the personnel working at CURY who face major challenges but strife for success in each medical action they take. Being a veritable fruit of cooperation between Cameroon and the Republic of Korea, Dr Louis Joss Bitang noted that with the constant support from the Korean grant aid agency, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), CURY is a true picture of an Emergency Hospital not only in Cameroon but the Central African Region in general.
Since the hospital opened its doors to the public, some 15,802 patients have been treated at the hospital. In a month, CURY receives some 1316 patients and 43.89 patients each day. Dr Louis Joss Bitang however noted that the maintenance service of the hospital lacks personnel to properly handle equipment, and need more quality staff...
