Digital Documentary Task Force : Higher Education Commission Begins Work

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Professor Wilfred Gabsa chaired the session yesterday April 20, aimed at drawing a roadmap.
A maiden meeting of the Bilingual and Digital Documentary Task Force of the Ministry of Higher Education which was put in place on September 14, 2021, took place yesterday, April 20, 2022. Presiding at the session was the President of the Task Force, Professor Wilfred Gabsa, who is also the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education. The meeting focused on putting down ideas which will be used to kick start activities of the task force.
During the meeting members listened to three presentations. The first was from a staff at the Archives Service of the Ministry of Higher Education. There was also a presentation from a librarian at the Inspectorate of Documentation of the Ministry of Higher Education and that from an Information Technology Project Expert. From the presentations it was revealed that documents are piled in various corridors and offices at the central service of the Ministry of Higher Education and need to be properly conserved. Isaac Christian Ilouga from the Inspectorate of Documentation at the Ministry of Higher Education said there was need to collect, classify and conserve these documents either physically or digitally. The IT Project Expert, Francis Ndom highlighted some of the problems with digital documentation such as the legal texts governing electronic signature.
Prof Wilfred Gabsa said, these ideas will be submitted to the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education for scrutiny before implementation. He however explained that as of now, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Educ...
