Obituary : Senator Hamadou Paul Journeys Beyond

The death has been announced of Senator Hamadou Paul. The elected representative of the Adamawa Region kicked the bucket on May 15, 2022 after a brief illness at the Yaounde Emergency Center (CURY). A native of Mbere in the Adamawa Region, Hamadou Paul was elected in the Senate on the ticket of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party during the 2018 municipal and legislative elections. It was his first mandate at the lawmaking House and due to incompatibilities as stated by the law, he gave up his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cameroon Publi Expansion, in favour of being a Senator. The deceased was a labour medical doctor, (civil administrator) by profession with specialization in health care and labour security. He is said to have joined the CPDM in 1985 and became a member of the Central Committee of the said party some 11 years later (that is in 1996). Hamadou Paul was Departmental Coordinator of the campaign for President Paul Biya during the 2011 presidential election. He served the country in several capacities before his death, including being Secretary General at the Ministries of Communication, Sports and Physical Education, and Housing and Urban Development. Family sources note that he died at the age of 66.
