Carrousel : Wonderful Display of Patriotism

Titled “United Cameroon,” the brass band of the army in their merry-dance traced the history of Cameroon and paid tribute to sons and daughters of the country.

A display by the principal brass band of the army at the May 20 boulevard as Cameroon commemorated its 50th anniversary as a unitary State reflected the values of social cohesion. Known as the carrousel, the squad made up of more than 30 people danced with bilingual cards in hand mentioning the ten regions of the country. Carrousel is a brass band in the army that displays State values through a gentle dance style as they blow trumpets, flutes and hit the bands. In a less than five minutes display, the squad in two dance patterns chanted a bilingual song celebrating the dynamic people of Cameroon. The merry-dance traces the history of the country, the significance of the 50th anniversary and pays tribute to citizens of Cameroon. The words chanted urges Cameroonians to work for the prosperity of the nation, as it seeks emergence by 2035. The display was connotative of the theme of this year’s celebration which is, “Defence and Security Forces at the service of the people in preserving social peace and national cohesion, a guarantee for an emerging Cameroon.” The National flag led the spectacular parade which had different dance scenes that formed symbols of love and unity. “Dynamic people of Cameroon,...
