Promotion of Youth : Platform To Re-Launch Activities Underway

This was at the centre of discussions during a meeting in Yaounde yesterday May 31, 2022.

A working group has been put in place at the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education to propose a plan of action on how to re-launch the platform for the promotion of youth in Cameroon (PPYC). This was during a multi-sectoral meeting involving some UN agencies, youth platforms and some civil society organisations, yesterday May 31, 2022 in Yaounde. Chairing the meeting was the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, and the representative of the United Nations Population Fund. 
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education said in spite of the actions carried out in favour of the youth, the PPYC has had a long period of inactivity. He reiterated that the platform needs to be reorganised in a bid to meet up with the objectives of ensuring that Cameroonian youths are empowered to contribute to their own wellbeing and the development of the country. 
The gathering permitted stakeholders to examine difficulties that hindered the functioning of the platform and also looked at the various ways through which different actors in the society can coherently carryout their activities for the benefits of youths in the country. The platform for the promotion of youths is a space to concert and coordinate actions in favour of youths in the country.
