Hadj 2022 : Head of State Injects FCFA One Billion

The Chairman of the National Hadj Commission, Minister Atanga Nji Paul announced the Head of State’s subvention in a press release signed on June 1, 2022.

President Paul Biya of Cameroon has decided to grant a subvention of FCFA one billion to the National Hadj Commission in order to enable the maximum number of Cameroonians participate in the Muslim pilgrimage, Hadj 2022 in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The Chairman of the National Hadj Commission, Territorial Administration Minister Atanga Nji Paul announced the Head of State’s subvention for the collective halj in a press release published on June 1, 2022.  He specified that with the subvention, the initial price of FCFA 3 294 000 per pilgrim has consequently dropped to FCFA 2 924 000. He called on official catering for the pilgrims to respect the new price.
Before the Head of State’s gesture, Minister Atanga Nji in two press releases on May 27 and 30, 2022 announced the increase in the cost of what each pilgrim has to spend. The amount represented an increase of 47 per cent with a net difference of FCFA 1 054 000 compared to the amount in the previous pilgrimage that took place in 2019.
