Hygiene, Sanitation : Douala II Rewards Excellence

The Douala II council is bent on ensuring that the municipality remains clean and habitable for its inhabitants. Reasons why Hygiene and Sanitation campaign for different groups of people in the municipality. One of such is the competition for women associations mostly engaged in hygiene and sanitation in Douala II.
The competition which is in its 12th edition has seen different associations cleaning the streets of Douala II on a daily basis. During this year’s competition, the Afingui women’s group won the competition bagging home CFA 800,000 with some cleaning gadgets and materials. The Mayor of the Douala II municipality, Denise Fampou, congratulated the women for a job well done. She said their activities help in enabling the Douala II council to win the National competition on Hygiene and sanitation last year by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. She said women in the Douala II municipality have been the backbone of the victory. She urged the women to work harder and ensure that the streets of Douala II are clean and habitable. She said they decided to hand over the awards on mother’s day in a bit to celebrate women who are the mothers of humanity. She used the opportunity to launch the 13th edition of the competition.
