Platinum Jubilee : Queen Elizabeth II Celebrated In Pomp

It was at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel that British High Commissioner flanked by several members of government hailed the Queens’s epitomic 70 years of reign.

Not less than half a thousand guests responded present on Friday, June 3, 2022 evening to the invitation of the British High Commissioner to Cameroon. Members of Government, Parliamentarians, the diplomatic corps and various personalities gathered around Christian Dennys-McClure to celebrate 70 years in power of Queen Elizabeth II. In a jammed pack beautifully decorated hall of the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde, the different guests were marvelled by the meticulous organisation of the Platinum Jubilee activities.
A total of four articulations punctuated the ceremony, starting with the projection on several giant screens of the coronation ceremony in 1952 of Elizabeth II. Followed by a poem by Sandy McClure. In her romance, the wife of the British head of mission advocated for peace, resilience and respect for human rights. The “Bastos ensemble” choir gave another colour to the celebration to the delight of the audience. The charming choir made up of Cameroonians and expatriates did thrill the audience with three songs, “Rolling in the deep” by Adele, “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen and “Shana” by Sally Nyolo.
