Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee : Cameroon Celebrates Commonwealth Values

A round table conference to that effect held at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon on June 2, 2022.

Commonwealth principles and policies such as governance, inclusivity, democracy, cooperation, multiculturalism (diversity) gender equality and sustainable development, have been celebrated as Cameroon joined other countries of the Gentlemen’s Club to commemorate the platinum jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. This was in the course of a round table conference organised by the Ministry of External Relations at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) on June 2, 2022. The conference was moderated by Prof Yves Mandjem in the presence of representatives of civil society organisations. 
A presentation by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Mary Meboka Muyali, highlights Cameroon’s participation, contribution and benefits within the Commonwealth. “This gives us an opportunity to have an in-depth look on what is happening at the Commonwealth and Cameroon’s relationship with the Organisation. At the level of Parliaments, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is one of those organisations that are permanent, and we bring in Cameroon’s experience to share with other legislatures. The Commonwealth respects diversity and the Head of State has been vice patron of the Commonwealth,” she stated. Improving the electoral process, adopting the programme oriented financial regime, and practicing democracy that has a direct impact on the population, are some of the positive outcomes of the Cameroon-Commonwealth relations.
