During special church services yesterday June 5, 2022 pastors and priests called on the congregation to set their minds on the things of the spirit.
Christians nationwide have commemorated the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other disciples following the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. This was during special church services on Pentecost Sunday, yesterday, June 5, 2022. Christians of the Presbyterian Church Nsimeyong, as well as those of the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church and The Our Lady of Victories Cathedral in Yaounde, were told to set their minds on the things of the spirit, while shunning jealousy, envy and hatred among them.
In a joyful church service at the Presbyterian Church Nsimeyong in Yaounde, Reverend Ngole Peter Ebot preached from the Book of Romans 8:1-11. Under the theme “Set Your Mind on the Things of the Spirit.” He made a prayer in which he called on the Spirit of the living God, dwelling in the Church to come and fill the hearts of his faithful and rekindle in them the fire of love. Rev Ngole said unbelievers who have been reproved of sin, righteousness and judgement, and who have been guided into truth, should turn from their sinful lives and trust Jesus by faith. But often, the preacher said, the human understanding reveals that the Christian walk is too difficult as people see a gulf that they think cannot be spanned. He called on unbelievers to confess to Jesus as their personal Saviour, and the Holy Spirit will come into their lives and move mysteriously beyond reason and imagination. The servant of God called on individuals to throw off everything that hinders, and the sin that so easily entangles them.
Archbishop Emeritus of Bertoua, Roger Pirene, celebrated the Pentecost at The Our Lady of Victories Cathedral in Yaounde through the biblical Book of Acts 2 1-11.
