U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers : Cameroon Crashes Out

The baby Lionesses were eliminated after being trashed by Tanzania 1-0 over the weekend in the second leg of the last round qualifiers making it 1-5 on aggregate.

Nigeria, Morocco and Tanzania are the three teams that will represent Africa in the 2022 U-17 Women’s World Cup in India. Cameroon missed its chance of making it to the competition after they were thrashed by Tanzania 1-5 goals on aggregate in the last and fourth qualifying round. A round which was rather more complicated than the previous ones. This is given that in Yaounde, the baby Lionesses were beaten by the Serengeti Girls 1-4. An encounter which the physical build-up of the Tanzanian players was questioned. The Tanzanian strikers thus seemed to be highly superior to the Cameroonian defenders. Hence, the huge number of goals. Cameroon’s midfield and attack were equally lacking given their incapability to take the ball right up to the penalty box and scoring.
Despite the obstacles, Cameroon accepted defeat and hoped that the God’s of football would be in their favour in the second leg. It was rather a more difficult adventure. The Cameroonian team while at the hotel in Tanzania was reportedly highly destabilised before the match. First, about eight members of the delegation were said to have tested positive to Covid-19. Serious disputes reportedly degenerated when the parties did not agree on where the infected persons will be confined. Disputes continued right to the stadium as the Cameroonian delegation gave their reservations about the physical outlook of the Tanzanian players. This made the match to begin over an hour late. Game finally started and the Tanzanians disqualified Cameroon by winning 1-0.
