National Border Policy : Progressive Implementation

Cameroon has Ad hoc Boundary Demarcation and Joint Border Security Commissions with almost all is neighbours.

The Cameroon National Border Policy whose objective is to ensure the settlement of border differences between Cameroon and  neighbouring countries in placed under the National Border Commission that is lodged at the Presidency of the Republic. 
The implementation of the policy on the field is coordinated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration with the Director of Territorial Organisation in the said Ministry as the focal point. The implementation of the policy, sources say, also falls under the missions of MINAT.
As to the effective implementation of the policy on the field, MINAT sources say it is progressive considering that Cameroon and its neighbours have signed agreements that have resulted in the creation of two types of commissions that are Ad hoc Commissions for Boundary Demarcation and the Joint Permanent Cross –border Security Commissions.  As an illustration, the second meeting of the Cameroon-Gabon  Ad hoc  Boundary Demarcation Commission and the first session of  the Joint Permanent Cross-border Security Commission met in Yaounde, Cameroon from May 23-27, 2022. MINAT sources say the similar commissions between Cameroon and the Central African Republic will meet in Yaounde from June 12-16, 2022. The meetings of the commissions hold alternatively between Cameroon and the neighbouring countries.
From reliable sources, Cameroon has no boundary delimitation problem with its neighbours but the delimited boundaries  have to be effectively demarcated in some areas to avoid clashes and confusion.
