Distinction : Outgoing Nigerian Defence Attaché Knighted

Minister Joseph Beti Assomo affixed the medal of Commodore Nnandi Christiantus Ekwom in a ceremony on June 14, 2022.

In recognition to his contribution in strengthening security cooperation between Cameroon and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the outgoing Nigerian Defence Attaché at the Nigerian High Commission in Yaounde, Commodore Nnandi Christiantus Ekwom, who has come to the end of his stay in Cameroon, has been awarded on exceptional basis, the medal of Knight of the National Order of Valour. He was decorated on June 14, 2022 by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo. This precedes a presidential decree of June 2, 2022 awarding him the distinction.
Congratulating the Defence Attaché, Minister Joseph Beti Assomo said the medal award ceremony was also an opportunity to exalt and celebrate the solid ties uniting Cameroon and Nigeria particularly in the field of defence. He was personally involved in strengthening and expanding our bilateral military cooperation. Thanks to his interpersonal skills, the large family of the Cameroonian defence and security has been honoured with numerous visits to Cameroon by high level Nigerian military delegations. I particularly commend his availability, unwavering support, great mastery of common issues and above all his frankness in formal and informal exchanges he regularly had with us,” the Minister stated. Minister Beti Assomo further stated that the Abuja-Yaounde axes became more fluid with positive effects in the socio-security context faced by the two countries during his tenure as Defence Attaché.
For the Nigerian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, recognising the Defence Adviser with a Cameroonian national medal reflects the deep ties shared by both countries. “...
