Barrister Arlette Ngoulla Fotso : Giving The Bar A Facelift

The experienced female lawyer is bent on giving the Council a new lease of life.

Barrister Arlette Ngoulla Fotso, an international female lawyer based in Douala is gunning to become the first woman to be elected to head the Cameroon Bar Association as President come June 18. The skilled lawyer who has been in the practice for close to 40 years declared her candidacy into the Bar on 20 April and since then, she has been touring the country to woo lawyers to cast their votes for her. 
When CT met her at her Bonamoussadi residence, the smart-looking and vibrant Bar Council aspiring president was ready to embark on a journey to Nkongsamba. She declared that she has the desire to safeguard the profession and bring a new lease of life into the Bar council. She was aware of the fact that for the past 50 years of existence, no woman has ever been elected as president. As such, she is aware of the resistance from her male counterparts and she is ready for the challenge and very optimistic that she will win the Bar this time around.
Born on the 25 of June 1957, the seasoned barrister is out to improve on the conditions of lawyers in Cameroon through training and recognition. She wants to equip Cameroonian lawyers to meet international standards and be ready for the international market.
