The tussle for which teams will be among the 32 that will play the 2022 Cup of Cameroon is gathering steam. According to a circular from the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), the different regional leagues have latest June 30, 2022 to make known their representatives as per stipulated quotas. Given this deadline, the leagues have their heads on the preliminaries that will help produce the representatives.
The Centre regional league for example has 216 affiliated clubs and is expected to produce the highest number of representatives, (six). According to information we gathered, the regional league had recently conducted the draws for the preliminaries and are expected to begin on Monday, June 20, 2022. 108 matches are on agenda for the first round preliminaries and they are expected to move up till five rounds to get their six representatives. Sources say they are determined to finish up before the deadline.
The North West regional league with 101 affiliated clubs seems to be more advanced. We gathered that they will get their two representatives on Sunday, June 19, 2022 as the preliminaries in the region unfolds. The South West regional league which has to equally produce two representatives is equally working both at the divisional and regional levels.
