Commonwealth Meeting : PM Represents President Biya

Ahead of the official opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda today, Prime Minister Dion Ngute had discussions with some world leaders yesterday.

Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute who is representing the Head of State, President Paul Biya in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, reportedly arrived at the Kigali International Airport on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 around 8: 30 pm Cameroon time. He was officially received by the Rwandan Minister of Justice, Emmanuel Ugirashebuja.
Prime Minister Dion Ngute will join other Commonwealth leaders today, June 24, 2022 for the official opening of CHOGM, after having busy day on Thursday, June 23, 2022. He reportedly had separate audiences with some world leaders. He had discussions with the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness. He is also said to have had discussions with the fifth Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Organisation, Amina J. Mohammed who was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Cameroonian born Nelson Muffuh.
The 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda is taking place after two years of delay owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The meeting that officially opens today, June 24, 2022 is holding on the theme, “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.’  The theme is said to highlight how the 54 member countries of the Commonwealth family are “innovating, connecting and transforming” to help achieve some of its biggest goals, like protecting natural resources and boosting trade. Sources say the theme was chosen because Commonwealth countries are connected by deep-rooted networks of friendship and goodwill.
