The 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations : Outsiders Set To Spring Surprises

Zambia and Morocco will be out to turn the tables given their recent performances.


The 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations promises to be an energetic wave of energy and excitement as Africa’s elite women’s footballers battle it out for the title of queens of African football. The Copper Queens of Zambia are going to the Africa Cup of Nations for the third time. Ranked 103 on the FIFA Ranking, the Copper Queens edged past Malawi and Namibia to grab their ticket for the women’s AFCON. Zambia has not yet gone beyond the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations but they can spring up surprises in Morocco given their recent performance. The presence of Zambia standout player, Barbra Banda will add more impulse to the team.  Being the first team to arrive in Morocco, the Copper Queens were able to test themselves against the Atlas Lionesses and with other teams. The Copper Queens will open their Group B campaign against Cameroon on July 3, 2022 at Mohammed V Stadium, Casablanca. Coach Mwape’s dream is to go past the group stage and even clinch a ticket for the World Cup.
