2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations : High Expectations From Favourites

Nigeria and South Africa are the two teams that are tripped by bookmakers to win the title in Morocco.

As the countdown to the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations draws nearer, hopes are high that favourites will be out once more for a good show of talents. All eyes will be on this category of teams. From all indications, Nigeria is an overwhelming favourite in this year’s edition of the competition. The current champions have been on every edition of the AWCON. Nigeria edged giants like Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire during the qualifiers thanks to Coach Randy Waldrum’s outstanding vision. Their road to Morocco was remarkable. 
Many believe Coach Waldrum’s girls will be out to maintain their superiority on the continent. With team captain Onome Ebi, Rasheedat Ajibade and Francisca Ordega, much is expected from the Super Falcons. Asisat Oshoala, Africa’s player of the year will add so much flair in the team as she is following in the footsteps of the Nigerian legend, Perpetua Nkwocha.
