Group C : Goal Festival On Day 1

This group produced the highest number of goals(nine) during the first playing day of the ongoing Women’s AFCON.


Out of the 17 goals scored on Day 1 of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Group C counts nine. The group has the highest number of goals as compared to three goals scored in Group A and five scored in Group B on the first playing day. The first match in Group C that was considered a final before the final pitting South Africa and Nigeria gave the greenlight. South Africa won the game 2-1 making it a total of three goals in that encounter. South Africa scored twice in two minutes thanks to Jermaine Seoposenwe and Hilda Magaia goals in the 60th and 62nd minutes to destabilize their opponents. Rasheedat Ajibade scored the lone goal for Nigeria.
Botswana and Burundi picked up the flames and did even better in the second game of Day 1. Botswana registered the biggest win when they saw off fellow debutants Burundi 4-2.
